Bollywood movie shines at Monaco Charity Film Festival !
Riwayat (2010. www.riwayatmovie.com) – a bollywood romantic musical has bagged the prestigious ‘Award of Merit’ at the Monaco Charity Film Fetival. Produced by two world renowned doctors-Dr Ajay Rane and Dr Sanjay Patole – Riwayat has all the ingredients of an out and out bollywood entartainer that focusses on the serious social issue of the killing of baby girls simply due to the blind faith in traditions, and beliefs that favour sons and not daughters.
Riwayat depicts the emotional journey of Anita (played by the talented and gorgeous bollywood newbie Samapika Debnath) and her fight in protecting the girl child. The melodious music of Riwayat is a sure treat with 4 beautiful songs sung by bollywood biggies Shreya Ghoshal, Shaan, Kailash Kher, and the legendary Jagjit Singh. Prof Dr Ajay Rane, the co-producer of the movie, was all smiles when he walked down the red carpet to receive the award in Monte Carlo last week.
The rising global popularity of Indian films seems assured looking at the success of Riwayat, a meaningful film with substance as well as all the colors, music, and passion of “Bollywood”. The producers are currently awaiting the screening of Riwayat at few more international and national film festivals before the commercial launch of the film in India and overseas.
Prof Rane – co producer of Riwayat said he was “gobsmacked” by the response to the film and hoped it would reduce the rate of deaths. “I’m not a film-maker and I made this movie purely from a passion for women’s health and
championing women’s causes,” he said.
“I hope the publicity will help raise awareness. The magnitude of this problem is that hundreds of millions of girls are killed.”
The film was previewed at a special screening in Townsville last month and will next be seen at the Melbourne International Film Festival, along with festivals in India and Canada.

Life After Avatar: Hottest Movies With A Message in 2010
The prospect of seeing a movie after James Cameron’s Avatar can be somewhat scary. It’s fairly true to say that this spectacular movie about spirituality, nature and the consequences of human greed has altered the movie landscape.
But what about the movies coming out in the next month or so, sure there is no Avatar sequel on the horizon but is there anything that can assuage a moviegoer’s desire for big entertainment without compromising a good story?
The first two films on the list both around Greek History and in fact they are only the first of a wave of films that center around ancient Greece to be coming out in the next year. Clash Of The Titans and Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief are big budget spectaculars with proven storylines that are guaranteed to entertain and educate.
Both refer to the mythology of Greek Gods, Titans and demons and have some great messages contained in their archetypes and grand plays. To get the best out of both be sure to brush up on the main characters in this Greek drama on Wikipedia before you go to the cinema.
Iron Man 2 is another character of myth, but more of the spandex type rather than the toga and sandals combo. The sequel to 2007′s breakout success stars Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark, industrial entrepreneur by day and iron clad superhero by night. Power and responibility are still the name of the game here. Add the extra superhero nods to Black Widow and Nick Fury played onscreen by no less than Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L Jackson and you know you are in for an eye pleasing geekfest.
If you’re into mad fantasy then look no further than Tim Burton’s adaptation of Alice In Wonderland. Lewis Carroll’s book was laden with allegorical power and deeper meaning in its sometimes crazy story. The film stars Jonny Depp as the truly Mad Hatter and if you’re a Burton/Depp fan you really don’t need to know much more than that to get you going!
So there you have it. February to March is a great time to get past those Post Avatar blues and head back into the cinema for some big screen entertainment with a message.

2010–10 Movies You Should Watch(II)
6. ”Iron Man 2″ (May 7).
After the megaton success of 2008′s first metal-head adventure, does there need to be another one? If so, how about this: In a battle of the reconstructed bad boys, Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark/Iron Man goes mano-a-mano with Mickey Rourke’s villain, Ivan Vanko/Whiplash. Plus, Don Cheadle (stepping in for Terrence Howard) suits up as another man of iron called War Machine. And Scarlett Johansson is Black Widow, in a skintight costume that will likely bring a lot of emergency medical calls to fanboys’ homes. Downey and director Jon Favreau have the exact right handle on their rock ‘em-sock ‘em superhero franchise.
7. ”Sex and the City 2″ (May 28).
When we last saw the girls, Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) was marrying Big at City Hall, Charlotte (Kristin Davis) was a new mom, Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) was saying yes to her marriage while on the Brooklyn Bridge, and Samantha (Kim Cattrall) was celebrating the big 5-oh by moving back to New York from L.A. This year, they all turn into vampires. OK, fine, they don’t — but you go and try to find plot developments in this, the sequel to the ultimate chick flick. Carrie & Co. have a permanent place in female moviegoers’ hearts.
8. ”The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” (June 30).
Speaking of vamps, the third go-round for Stephenie Meyer’s Washington-based occult soap opera finds Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) applying to college while being hunted by rival vampires. Meanwhile, werewolf Jacob (Taylor Lautner) and his wolf pack need Bella and Edward’s help in solving a series of murders. If a giant clove of garlic dropped on Hollywood, it couldn’t stop this series’ appeal to audiences.
9. ”Salt” (July 23).
Angelina Jolie takes time off from appearing on magazine covers to play a sexy-tough CIA spy falsely tagged as a Russian double-agent. While trying to stop an attempt on the U.S. President’s life, Salt also has to find the real killer and clear her name. Liev Schreiber co-stars. Jolie in butt-kicking mode (“Mr. & Mrs. Smith”) always trumps Jolie in serious mode (“Changeling”). Just ask Brad Pitt.
10. ”Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1″ (Nov. 19).
The curtain starts to close on the world’s most famous wizard. As not-so-young Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), Ron (Rupert Grint) and Hermione (Emma Watson) edge ever closer to the end of puberty and the ultimate battle with Voldemort, the death eaters descend on Hogwarts. Meanwhile, anyone who has ever seen one minute of the previous six movies wonders when Alan Rickman’s Snape will have his moment. The cast is getting older, the story’s getting darker, the heroes and villains are making their stands … and you’ll need to know which witch is which when “Deathly Hallows Part 2″ arrives in 2011.
